    SINGAPORE — Cryptocurrency bitcoin leapt as much as 14 per cent to a 2-1/2 year high of US$34,283 (S$46,851) in early Asia hours on Tuesday (Oct 24), on speculation that the US could soon approve a bitcoin exchange-traded fund.

    Bitcoin was last up 10 per cent at US$33,030. Smaller rival ether was up six per cent at US$1,763.
